Online Scouts!

Posted on April 23rd, 2020 by Ian Crickmore

In these lockdown days, we are trialling online scouts sessions.

Look out for emails from your section leader for details of how to connect to these.

We have ran a number of successful sessions for Scouts using Zoom videoconferencing.

However, apart from this, please visit https://www.scouts.org.uk/the-great-indoors/ for loads of lockdown ideas

Kandersteg 2019!

We are proud to have been able to take a large group of over 50 4th Bramshill Scouts, Explorers & Network to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre campsite in Switzerland (http://www.kisc.ch/) in Summer 2019.

We left on Wednesday 24th July 2019 & returned Wednesday 1st August 2019 Well, most of us did anyway.  The lucky lucky people who drove all our camping equipment, rucksacks and bedding left one day before and returned one day later! It takes a long time when you’re speed limited and driving a van full of kit!!!

(in the days that we were all allowed to travel – remember those?)

What a fantastic time we all had!  Hiking up mountains, staying in Mountain huts (and the older scouts hiked up even further and crossed over a Glacier!), meeting loads of other scouts from ALL over the world at the home of the Permanent mini Jamboree in Kandersteg, Switzerland.

This is what all of our fundraising enables us to do (primarily our Christmas Tree selling in December and the Tree collection and recycling in January) so to everyone who supported us with this, a massive THANK YOU!

Join Explorers

Posted on October 22nd, 2015 by Ian Crickmore

Explorer Scouts (14–18)

Explorers are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme
and direction of the Unit, with support and guidance from leaders. The section also includes the Young Leaders’ Scheme, where young people are able to take on a leadership role in one of the younger sections.

There is wider scope for activities like offshore sailing, campaigning, performing, parascending, mountaineering and expeditions.

Join Scouts

Scouts (10½–14)

Each Scout Troop consists of small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, usually led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Throughout the year, Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for camp.

Rock climbing, potholing, gliding, photography and international experiences are just some of the things they get up to.

Join Cubs

Cubs (8-10½)

A Cub Scout Pack can have up to 36 Cub Scouts and is split into smaller groups called Sixes. Cubs take part in a wide range of activities designed to be interesting and challenging. A Cub Scout meeting consists of games and activities with plenty of time spent outdoors.

Camps and holidays are some of the most memorable events of the year for Cubs.

Join Beavers

Beavers (6–8)

Beaver Scouts are our youngest members. They usually meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.

They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.
